About Miyajima Marine Aquarium
Miyajima Marine (Miyajima Aquarium) is an aquarium located on Miyajima, a World Heritage island, that primarily exhibits marine life from the Seto Inland Sea. Reopened in 2011 after renovations, it houses and displays over 13,000 specimens of approximately 350 species, based on the concepts of “healing” and “interaction.”

Access by Ferry
To reach Miyajima, take a ferry from Miyajimaguchi Pier on the mainland side (approximately 10 minutes). JR West Miyajima Ferry and Miyajima Matsudai Kisen operate ferries, both arriving at Miyajima Pier.

From Miyajima Pier to the Aquarium
The aquarium is approximately 25 minutes on foot from Miyajima Pier. Since it’s in the opposite direction from Itsukushima Shrine, follow the signs along the coast. If you have a lot of luggage or are traveling with small children, consider taking a taxi.
Access by Car
Vehicles are generally not allowed on Miyajima Island. Use paid parking lots around Miyajimaguchi on the mainland side and take a ferry to the island.
